Mountain of Storms

パタゴニアで"Mountain of Storms"というDVDを注文しました。今年の一押しの映画"180° South"の題材となった40年前の旅のドキュメントフィルムです。

フォトグラファーでサーファーでライターであるJeff Johnsonがパタゴニアにむかうきっかけとなったイヴォンとダグの旅のパタゴニアへの旅の様子がおさめられています。イヴォンたちが出発した４０年前なんて、それこそ、道具もウェアもそんなにいい状態ではなく、だからこそあんないいブランド（パタゴニアとノースフェイス）が生まれたのかもしれませんが、でもその一昔前の冒険を想像するだけでワクワクします。私には勇気がないけども。。。

パタゴニアのショップでDVDを販売しているか尋ねたら、オンラインでしか販売していないとのことで、オンラインショップで注文しました。４月まで入庫待ちだそう。人気ですねえ〜！

ちなみに、180° South の映画の感想を一言で表すと、見終わってシャキッとする映画でした。ジェフは仕事を辞めて北米から南米へ向かうボートに乗っけてもらって旅をする（だから180° Southなのかな。）のですが、そもそもそんなこと誰もができることではないってところでまず感銘、そして旅の途中のハプニングも、ダムや環境や原住民の話も、とても考えさせられる内容でした。アウトドアを愛する人たちは、環境（地球）を愛す気持ちがあります。
我々もできることから地球を大事にしないとですね。

ちなみに、180° SouthのクルーのChris Malloy, Emmett MalloyのMalloy兄弟はJack Johnsonの友人でもあり、一緒に映画もプロデュースしている仲間。繋がるなあ〜！
